Editing does not remain within the individual. It is distributed across multiple agents and appears as a social circuit.
This paper describes society as a circuit of collective lag editing.

What is society?
Here, society is defined as a circuit in which multiple acts of editing are connected and retained.
Individual editing (breathing, walking, speaking, excreting) is connected across others and carried forward.
Society is a distributed structure of persistent editing.
2 | Institutions: Devices that Retain Lag
What are institutions?
Institutions are devices that fix and reuse the results of editing (Z₀’).
- Law
- Norms
- Language
- Records (texts, data)
They retain traces of past editing and supply them to future editing.
Institutions are reservoirs of retained deviation.
3 | Power: Determination of the Cut
What is power?
Power is defined as the capacity to determine the position of Z₀.
Where to introduce a cut. What is allowed to appear and what is not.
These decisions shape the form of the social editing circuit.

4 | Market and Media: Acceleration of Projection
In society, projection is amplified.
- Market (price) = projection of retained distortion
- Media (SNS, etc.) = acceleration of shifted copying
- Logs and records = expansion of retention
Editing accelerates, and deviations are rapidly recomposed.
Market and media are accelerators of editing.
5 | Social Time: Collective Retention
At the individual level, time is retained lag.
At the social level, it appears as collectively retained deviation.
