Toward a Generative Bridge from Light to Life-Time
Abstract
Light propagates without retaining its encounters.
Life, by contrast, emerges through recursive retention of encounters.
This paper proposes that the difference between light and life is not substance, but structure:
specifically, the presence or absence of recursion.
We introduce Z₀ as the critical threshold at which non-recursive encounter becomes recursive relation.
Within this framework, photon, electron, and molecule are reinterpreted as successive modes of relational manifestation:
flow, folding, and fixation.
Time is not a fundamental continuum but an emergent sequence of traces (ΔZ) produced by sustained recursion (ψ).

Light appears instantaneous.
Life persists.
Between them lies a fundamental transformation:
How does encounter become time?
Conventional physics describes light as propagation and matter as structure.
This paper reframes both as relational processes.
Light is encounter without recursion.

The transition between them is neither gradual nor continuous.
It occurs at a threshold:
